Greetings! It is a pleasure to announce that the Central European Symposium on Thermophysics (CEST) will be held in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia in October 16-18, 2019. It is designed to meet an increasing demand for a meeting of researchers in the field of thermophysics in a broad sense. In the coming years we intend to attract larger scientific community from more countries. Yet, we wish the symposium to remain cozy and pleasant, keeping the number of participants in the range of 40–50. Although CEST is primarily aimed at researchers from Central Europe, people from other countries will participate as well.
CEST is a successor of the international conference Thermophysics that was organized 23 times, each year since 1996. While being well-established and of long tradition, we feel that new challenges are ahead and a new format is appropriate. We believe that CEST will provide such a new format. In particular, there will be four co-chairs, and each year one co-chair will act as the CEST chair and organize the symposium in a different country.
The symposium will include invited lectures, oral and poster presentations. Essential will be discussions on specialized topics from academic and industrial research and exchange invaluable experiences in the field of thermophysical properties in a broad sense. Great care will be taken to provide a large number of presentations for young scientists and PhD students.
In 2019 the conference proceedings will be again published by the American Institute of Physics (AIP) in their AIP Conference Proceedings series. In 2016, 2017, and 2018 the proceedings were published as AIP Conference Proceedings volumes 1752, 1866, and 1988, respectively. They were indexed by the Web of Science and Scopus databases.
The symposium is organized by Department of Physics, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, Slovakia.
