Central European Symposium on Thermophysics 2024

Greetings! It is a pleasure to announce that the 6th Central European Symposium on Thermophysics (CEST) will be held in Miskolctapolca, Hungary in September 4 - September 6, 2024. It is designed to meet an increasing demand for a meeting of researchers in the field of thermophysics in a broad sense. In the coming years we intend to attract larger scientific community from more countries. Yet, we wish the symposium to remain cozy and pleasant, keeping the number of participants in the range of 40–50. Although CEST is primarily aimed at researchers from Central Europe, people from other countries will participate as well.

Although CEST started only in 2019, it has rich history: it is a successor of the international conference Thermophysics organized since 1996. However, CEST provides a new and fresh format. Most distinctly, it has four co-chairs, and each year one co-chair acts as the CEST chair and organizes the symposium in a different country.

The symposium will include invited lectures, oral and poster presentations. Essential will be discussions on specialized topics from academic and industrial research and exchange invaluable experiences in the field of thermophysical properties in a broad sense. Great care will be taken to provide a large number of presentations for young scientists and PhD students.

The proceedings of the four CEST conferences (CEST 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022) were published as AIP Conference Proceedings volumes 2133, 2275, 2429, and 2801 and the proceedings of the last CEST conference was published in Journal of Physics: Conference Series volume 2628. We also edited the three previous proceedings, then under the Thermophysics conference. They were published with AIP as volumes 1752, 1866, and 1988. They are all indexed by the Web of Science or Scopus databases.

CEST 2024 is organized by  Department of Physics, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Informatics, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, Slovakia.
